Food, Menu Review

Sea Breezy Like Sunday Morning

When I arrived at Sea Breeze Fish Market and Grill I wasn’t sure what to expect What I wasn’t expecting was to be greeted by the owner and his son who were both so warm and welcoming. It’s nice to see a successful, family operated business in the world of franchises and food chains. I was quickly given a drink menu and became even more impressed with the craft cocktails I had to choose from.

I’ve mentioned previously that I’m loving the return of the Old Fashioned so it shouldn’t come as a shock that when I saw it on the cocktail menu I just had to give it whirl! What is so different about this one you’re wondering? Well to start, the simple syrup is infused with Madagascar Vanilla which is done in house and entirely by hand. A delicate orange fragrance immerses your senses and you sit back and relax while sipping this Vanilla Old Fashioned served over an ice sphere.

Showing love to its roots, Sea Breeze named a cocktail after the town they call home with the West Plano Punch. Olmeca Reposado Tequila, Cointreau, fresh lime, pomegranate juice garnished with fresh mint is a delicious, local surprise.

Our meal began with warm bread and some of their favorite appetizers including Sesame Crusted Yellow-Fin Tuna Nachos! For a seared tuna fanatic this was an exceptional dish showcasing the talent of a neighborhood fish market. Topped with lemon zest, a sweet Thai chili, and avocado wasabi aioli, which are all made in-house, garnished with an Asian slaw, this is a gorgeous arrangement you are sure to love!

If you’ve ever had a lobster roll, you already know how mouth-wateringly amazing they are. Sea Breeze elevates their Lobster Roll by ensuring there is a generous amount of lobster in every bite! Honestly I was shocked when I saw how much lobster there was! And the bun…well…they are flown in daily from a bakery in the Northeast staying true to tradition. Crisp on the outside yet soft on the inside, these buttery, perfectly seasoned, divine rolls will have you returning for another one as fast as you just devoured the one on your plate! Want more that the app version? Not to worry, there’s a full portion sandwich on the menu!

I know you’re already overly impressed so far but we haven’t even gotten to the entrees yet! Being that the word grill is in the name of the restaurant, I was expecting an exceptional piece of grilled fish. What did I get? Exactly that! A grilled filet of Chilean Sea Bass seasoned only with salt and pepper, remains one of the best pieces of fish I have ever experienced! I will put it out there that I am a seafood snob and I ate every last bite of this dish! It was more than incredible. Served with grilled broccolini in a sesame vinaigrette and spaghetti squash with slow roasted tomato, basil and Parmesan.

I am a huge fan of scallops and it was a must try when I saw a dish listed on the dinner menu. The Bacon Wrapped Smoked Sea Scallops are two flawlessly seared, impressively large scallops, served over a light and fluffy corn fritter then topped with an Orange Arugula salad. Did I mention the size of the scallops?!

Who doesn’t love a great burger? Well Sea Breeze has thought of everything when they came up with the Surf N’ Turf Burger! A burger patty from a Plano meat market, Hirsch’s, and that same lobster salad from the roll, pair brilliantly to unite land and sea. Served on a brioche bun with an arugula salad alongside a Horseradish Hashbrown.

Finally, it’s dessert time! Crème Brulee is an edible form of art and Sea Breeze’s Orange & Madagascar Vanilla version doesn’t disappoint! A sweet and creamy filling lies under a gorgeous, crunchy coating.
