While attending a KISS concert in 2010, brothers Dave and Dell Furano had a thought, “What’s better that rock and brews?” This question was answered when after the concert the duo was brainstorming ideas with rock legends Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley the Rock & Brews idea became a partnership and reality. With their 14th location now in North Texas of Highway 121 in The Colony, this franchise is proof that booze and great music really do go hand in hand. Each location is tailored to their individual regions featuring local artists who’ve painted murals and designed other pieces specifically for this Rock-N-Roll concept.
First order of business at Rock & Brews was trying to decide which of the many signature cocktails I was going to try. First on my list was Smoke on the Water inspired by a song from the rock group Deep Purple. A magical concoction of Deep Eddy Vodka, Deep Eddy Peach Vodka, Captain Morgan Spice Rum, fresh lemon, lime, and orange juices, and grenadine. Served in a mason jar over dry ice for the ultimate “smoky” affect. Come in during happy hour and grab on for only $6!
Texas music icon, Stevie Ray Vaughn has not only a mural painted in his honor but also a 24 ounce Texas Flood Margarita named after one of his most popular songs. Served in an oversized martini glass, (that takes both hands to pick up!), this restaurant staple takes Tres Agave Tequila, Grand Marnier, fresh lime, lemon, and orange juices and poured on the rocks. Definitely generous enough to share with your best drinking buddy!
Soft pretzels are my weakness so it was a must try when I saw the Giant Soft Authentic Bavarian Pretzel on Rock & Brews Opening Acts menu! Warm, salty and certainly large enough to share, served with a house made spicy mustard. My recommendation is to splurge and get the Bier Cheese for $1.99 extra!
You’ve gotten your salty fix with that amazing oversized pretzel and now you’re craving something sweet and spicy. The Shrimp Sriracha takes crispy fried shrimp and tosses them in a beautifully balances sweet and spicy sauce garnished with carrots and celery with Sriracha Ranch for dipping. These bite sized shrimp are as addictive as they sound and have the best crunch I’ve ever experienced!
There’s really nothing better than a hearty salad and the Strawberry Fields VIP Salad is a flavor explosion in your mouth! A mountain of baby greens, romaine lettuce, strawberries, cucumber, avocado, red onion, in house candied walnuts, feta cheese all under a tangy lemon pepper vinaigrette. My first thought about this salad was where do I begin to eat it! There were so many optimal placed to take my first bite! Just dig in and enjoy!
If there’s anything that goes better with brews other than great music, it’s definitely got to be some authentic Texas BBQ! A Rock & Brews specialty, the BBQ Baby Back Ribs are fall off the bone, lick you fingers clean fantastic! Paired with a local beer flight or your favorite icy cold draft these ribs are guaranteed to take to you to your happy place. Enjoy them on their huge patio complete with TV screens and water misters and you’ve created the best scenario outside of you own backyard!
If you’re in search of something lighter, Rock & Brews offers a variety of choices on their Regional Market Fresh Grill menu. Create your own masterpiece with choice of protein and glaze. I opted for the Grilled Fresh Salmon with the Island Mango Sauce. A stunningly grilled salmon filet topped with island mango, sweet and spicy mango, and chili peppers served with Rockin’ Rice and fresh veggies. Just look how exquisite!
Are you ready for an encore? Here this means dessert and the “Purple Rain” Drops may just satisfy your needs better than that one last song! Light and fluffy bites of chocolate filled French donuts with raspberry sauce drizzled on top with whipped cream for dipping. Let’s not pretend like I didn’t eat all of these and that I didn’t get extra whipped cream!
Be sure to stop by Rock & Brews during happy hour daily for drink specials and for brunch Sat-Sun 9am-1pm.
Coolest part, I got to meet Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley!
I received dinner in exchange for my review. All opinions in this post are mine.
