Draft Media Sports Lounge sheds a new upscale light on sports lounge scene. If there’s one thing that will never change in Dallas, it’s the passion we feel about our sports teams. While there is no shortage of local watering holes with flat screens, what’s lacking is the atmosphere you actually want to be in. I’m all for wings and cheap beer but there are certainly times where I’ve found myself wishing for a sports bar where the waitresses are fully clothed and embraces the level of class us Dallasites are accustomed to. Enter Draft Media Sports Lounge at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Dallas. An upscale sports bar nestled just past the lobby that can accommodate a date night to watch your favorite team or host your fantasy football draft. Enjoy the game in this 4000 square foot lounge, on any of their 23 flat screens, while drinking one of many ice cold local or international beers.
I was taken to a table near the window where the lights of high-rises were visible on this rainy night and without even asking the restaurant GM Samantha ordered me the Beer and Bacon Pairing with four expertly chosen, oversized back strips on top of beer samples ranging from Oktoberfest to Porter. If there’s any two items I can always get on board with its definitely bacon and beer! The Ranch Bacon was the first one I tried and is a fan favorite! On the other end, there’s Chocolate Covered Bacon paired with a Vanilla Porter! A little something for any palate!
It’s ok if you’re not in the mood for a beer! Draft Media Sports Lounge has sophisticated cocktails like The Paris Texas made with Tito’s Vodka, Elderflower Liquor, pineapple juice, and mint leaves. Light andfresh with an unquestionable kick, there’s no doubt this martini makes a Texas girl proud!
I loved how sports were incorporated into some of the food items! What a fun way to really stay true to a concept. The Mac-N-Cheese Foul Balls were crunchy on the outside and creamy, cheese goodness on the inside! They were an out of the ballpark, bases loaded homerun!
Another combo I can’t get enough of are soft pretzels and cheese so naturally when I saw the Beer Pretzel and Cheese Curd Bites I was all in! Warm and comforting bites served with a cool and tangy aioli sauce, they are meant to be shared with your table except for that one guy going for the other team! Who invited that guy?!
Something I’ve been seeing on a lot of menus lately are Arepas. Usually I see them for breakfast or brunch, however, here they have them as a lunch and dinner item and this has quickly become a go-to order for me. The Avacado Chicken Salad Arepa piles, you guessed it, chicken salad on top of toasted corn arepas and is then topped with tomato and chimichurri. The avocado really adds something special to this dish and I could literally eat it all day!
Generally, I would be diving into dessert here but I was so stuffed by this point I couldn’t have possibly eaten another bite. So you’ll need to make sure you plan better than I did and save room…if you can!
I received dinner in exchange for my review. All opinions in this post are mine.
