In my opinion, Kenny Bowers of Kenny’s Concepts can do no wrong. Not only does he have a top 50 restaurant in the nation with Kenny’s Woodfired Grill, and my personal favorite, Kenny’s Italian Kitchen which is hands down the best Italian spot in DFW, but now he’s entering the world of pizza and I (im)patiently waited for my invitation to test his newest venture.
One of his signature cocktail is the Texas Margarita and I was delighted to see it made the cut! Cazadores Tequila, agave, jalapenos, citrus, and Grand Marnier served in a tall, rim salted glass. This is one of my favorite cocktails anywhere! So refreshing with just enough heat for any true Texas gal!
After I was settled in, drink in hand, I immediately grew anxious to try the Garlic Shrimp. Just reading the menu description my mouth was watering! Grilled shrimp in a garlic butter, white wine sauce with mushrooms and tomato served atop a semi-crispy polenta. The shrimp, cooked impeccably and covered in this light, succulent sauce went beautifully with the polenta which was soft and just the right amount of crunch. An absolutely incredible dish!
Wait, this is a pizza place right? Well yes but Kenny loves to offer something for every palate at all of his restaurants which is something everyone can appreciate! So yes, we are moving on to the main event, PIZZA y’all! While I could have shown restraint and ordered only one pizza, today was not that day. First up was The Hot Mess. No, not because it reminds me of my usual Saturday nights but because it has every topping your saucy heart desires; mozzarella, sausage, hamburger, pepperoni, mushroom, sautéed onion, and jalapenos. I mean seriously, what more can you ask for…besides a side of ranch (duh)! This a meaty, cheesy pie that I will go back for time and time again.
I am always curious to see how a White pizza is made and ultimately tastes because too many places take the essence of what this ‘za should be. Luckily, East Coast is in the name here so I had high hopes of tantalizing taste buds in a mixture of white cheeses and that’s exactly what we got! A soft and crispy crust topped with alfredo, mozzarella, ricotta, roasted tomato, and basil pesto that almost melted in your mouth as soon as you bit into a slice. Sitting her reliving it, I’m getting hungry!
Also available at Kenny’s East Coast Pizza are his famous Midnight Meatballs served with his signature red sauce as well as several pasta options also available at the Italian Kitchen. With 2 concepts in Addison and now 4 in the Plano area, Kenny Bowers is easily dominating the Dallas restaurant scene.
Don’t forget about Martini Monday’s where select martinis are only $5!
