You might have a preconceived idea that Baker Bros. an American Deli is just a sandwich shop or lunch destination but luckily I am here to enlighten you. With a newly revamped menu featuring items you might not expect, this American deli has something to offer even the pickiest of eaters while staying true to it’s fast, casual atmosphere.
Let me start by talking about my personal favorite, the Kentucky Club. Smoked turkey and ham with bacon, melted provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions & aioli on a Ciabatta roll. Soft and savory, warm and hearty, this sandwich has it all! A perfect lunch or dinner option reheats wonderfully should you have any leftover.
Using fresh ingredients, Bakers Bros. will incorporate these to create daily specials. On my visit this was a Southwest Chipotle Wrap with grilled chicken, avocado, rice, corn, black beans served in a cheddar jalapeno tortilla. To say this in an oversized wrap would be an understatement! So filling and perfect paired with side of Black Bean soup!
We are in Texas and it is finally starting to feel like winter and a perfect cold weather option is a flatbread hot out of the oven. I tried the Chicken Bacon Avocado that has everything mentioned in the title along with roasted red onions, fresh mozzarella cheese, tomatoes then drizzled with ranch dressing and rosemary. Since I’m a native Texan, y’all know I also got ranch on the side for dipping which I must say was a tad challenging because the toppings are piled oh so high!
In addition to flatbreads and sandwiches, there are also a number of salads to choose from. I like spice in my life so I went for the Roasted Jalapeno Chop. A crisp chopped salad with roasted chicken, bacon, Cheddar cheese, green onions, roasted jalapeño, avocado and seasoned croutons, topped with our roasted jalapeño ranch dressing. Be warned! There is quite a kick of heat in this salad so make sure your iced tea is full before that first bite!
For dessert be sure to grab a fresh baked cookie or brownie on your way out!
